What We Learned This Christmas

Last year, I never got to see my family for Christmas.  And I was miserable.

This time around, it had been six months since I had seen any member of my family.
Oh, the old story:  working too hard, not enough time, costs too much to travel…
But I realized something.
I missed my family.

And did I get a raise for working last Christmas instead of spending it with them?  No.  Did I get a medal for staying away so long?  No.  And what of the cost?

Money comes, money goes.

Jobs come and go.

But the people we love so seldom come…
…and so suddenly go.
