I know it’s very trendy these days to throw around the phrase “I don’t cook,” but trust me when I say, I don’t cook.
Oh, I could tell you horror stories about past attempts at such domesticity. Over-sautéed vegetables that taste like mush. Under-grilled fish that may have resulted in food poisoning. Burning the onions and filling the kitchen with smoke, burning the pancakes and filling the house with smoke, putting a mug full of water in the microwave for tea and somehow filling the apartment with smoke which remains a mystery to me to this day.
So I would describe what I do as less “cooking” and more “assembling.” Answer this: if you spread peanut butter on a rice cake, is that cooking? If you pile a bunch of raw vegetables into a bowl and pour dressing over them, is that cooking? And lastly, is this cooking:
1lb salted roasted Almonds
1 bag of yogurt-covered raisins
1 bag of sweetened dried cranberries
Dump all ingredients into a large Ziploc bag. Shake it like a Poloroid picture. Place on high shelf.
The best part about this snack is that it’s pretty! I could picture this sitting in a fancy dish at a holiday party. Best off? It’s gluten free and kind of healthy. Almonds, right? And it’s not cooking.
Unless it is.
It’s not…right?
