Trader Joe’s Tuesday: Mini Brie Bites

Tastes Like:  I’m gonna try to keep this under 500 words. It’s gonna be hard. In the past, the circles of “Good Brie” and “Affordable Brie” were miles apart from each other, and in the vast crevasse between, lived many regrettable BAD BRIES which I bought in desperate need of some tangy soft cheese, yet not willing to shell out Whole-Foods-kinda-money. UNTIL. NOW. Because Trader Joe’s Mini Brie Bites have just brought Good Brie and Affordable Brie together into a Venn Diagram of Brie with their DELICIOUS, REASONABLY PRICED BRIE. These are robust, creamy, rich wheels of brie cheese and they’re the perfect size. Any larger, and it would be too much! But these are so damn perfect, well, they’re so damn perfect that they brought this heckin’ blog column out of retirement.

Great With: Trash TV, podcast marathons, and BLOGGING!

Perfect For: THAT #MILENNIAL SLACKER LIFE!!! Er, I meant, “snack-er.” These are the soft-cheese version of Babybel! I can’t tell you how many of these I ate before realizing that there’s actually a tiny slit on one side to make the package easy to tear open and monch on.

Must Know: They’re NOT CHEAP. HOWEVER, a single solid chunk of brie of that many ounces will cost more, and with these, you get an easy-to-eat, easy-to-serve perfect snack amount. So I think it’s worth it.

Costs: $4.49 for a pack of 5, which I have already stated, is not cheap! Especially if you stock up on these babies two at a time when you’re shopping for the month! But, as I’ve said, these stay fresher than a comparably-priced $9 hunk of brie, which you’d have to keep in a Tupperware in your fridge and scrape outta the container with a spoon like some kind of unrefined snacking animal. Are you a brie-scavenging raccoon? Or are you a sophisticated, Brie-snacking adult human! This is the choice that you can make. Make the right choice!
