2. Christmastime is Here – A Charlie Brown Christmas seems to be playing constantly around Christmastime in my family. My mother’s love of Snoopy and the gang seems to have rubbed off on me and the holiday specials are a MUST.
3. Happy Xmas/War is Over – Plastic Ono Band has probably always been my favourite song. We hit a rocky patch back in 2010, I couldn’t listen to the song without wanting to cry or throw up, it gives me that much feelings! But I’ve slowly allowed myself to feel and it’s once again become the simple, sweet song that I adored.
4. Merry Christmas, Darling – the Carpenters know how to sing a Christmas song. I picked this one to mention, in spite of the “logs on the fire/fill me with desire” lyric that I used to snicker at as a kid. It feels truly sincere, and if there is a “Christmas love song”, of course the Carpenters would nail it:
5. A Christmas Together – John Denver and the Muppets is so perfect I can’t pick a single song off the album so I choose ALL of them!
Listen for this perfect moment between Gonzo and Miss Piggy: “Piggy pudding?!?” “FIGGY pudding. Made with figs!” “OH!” “…and bacon.” “WHAT”
