2016 Year in Review

Buckle up, Buttercup! It’s the annual massive “best posts of the year” post! I’ve done it in 2012, 2013, 2014, and dang if it didn’t take me 1 2 3 4 tries but I did it in 2015, too. We’ve got 12 months to cover and a total of 165 posts this year to choose from (gosh oh golly) so let’s get moving before it’s actually 2017:

January:

I demanded that we stop hassling couples on their cell phones, debated whether feminists can love reality TV as much as I love reality TV, and told the true (read: embarrassing!) story of that time I catfished someone on the Internet.

This was also the month I started writing for Femnasty!

.

February:

I got a little romantic over Law & Order: SVU, waxed rhapsodic about staircases, spilled some tea about Twitter, and was personally thwarted by a deity.

.

March:

I taught you what makeup is (you’re welcome!), confessed to being a Millennial, made you promise me you’d never read the comments, and had to tell someone they were wrong.

This was also the month I started writing for BUST!

.

April:

I stopped using the word “crazy,” I was really annoyed at the things guys do on trains that we hate, and I went on and on about my love for ABBA’s Arrival.

.

May:

I was really busy in May, with my BUST internship, ghost tours, and therapy. I longed for the simple days of blogs, broke it to you that Disney ruined your chances of a happy love life forever, and penned this lovely ode to Janis Joplin and Pearl.

.

June:

I became obsessed with The Bachelorette, stayed obsessed with Carole King’s Tapestry, revealed the horrifying backstory behind your favorite childhood toys, and told you to get over these 5 things already.

.

July:

I was underwhelmed by Stranger Things, preached “if you can’t say something nice, DON’T write it on the Internet,” and pretty much listened to Double Fantasy on repeat a million times. Oh, and I turned 32.

.

August:

I went to Burning Man for the second time! I also grieved, went to the Museum of Ice Cream, and found the most hilarious sad-faced dog models on Amazon.com!

.

September:

I was still at Burning Man for part of the month, and when I got back, I missed it like fuck. I also worked my first election in September! And then I had the worst day ever, but I got through it.

.

October:

I learned how to cook eggs (and you can, too!), told you to get The Self-Esteem Workbook, seriously! I figured out the difference between “start days” and “finish days,” and I started my weekly GOOD NEWS series!

.

November:

What an awful fuckin’ month, huh? I managed to find reason to go on in cheese, #GreySweatpantsChallenge, and Cold War documentaries. Just don’t say I live in a “bubble,” alright?

.

December:

Busy month already! I sang at Strawberry Fields, put together some furniture, made some Netflix recommendations, and mourned the special place George Michael held in my heart. And we’ve still got 3 days left in the year! Congrats if you made it this far, treat yourself to some sprinkle cheese and reality TV. Thanks for joining me on this ride! I have a feeling 2017 is gonna be WILD!
