Feeling:
EXCITED!  I have so much awesome stuff going on, and so much to look forward to!!!  Well, I’ll get to that!

Watching: Black Butleran anime series that a friend turned me on to.  At first, I wasn’t sure I could get into it, but I always try to give TV at least two episodes.  Now it’s really hit its stride, and the style and story is captivating to me!

Reading: I’ve been too busy to yet crack my copy of Caped:  The Burdens of Fate, by Kerron Streater.  I’m hoping for a chance to get busy with it on vacation.  It’s too heavy to carry on the subway!  Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying (but not necessarily always understanding) re-reading Four Plays by Eugene Ionesco, The Colossus of New York by Colson Whitehead (a must-read poetry book for New Yorkers and those who love her), and have been eyeing my copy of Hour of the Star by Clarice Lispector – but I’m worried it’ll bum me out big time!

Thinking about:  What I want out of life.  It’s pretty deep, I know.  But I’m working on slowly becoming the woman I always dreamed of being.  Glamorous and independent and elegant and interesting.  It occurred to me the other day, after not recognizing my own reflection in the subway glass, that I look on the outside how I imagined I am on the inside.  That Mulan song sprang to my mind:  “When will my reflection show/Who I am inside?”

Not just on a shallow level, either.  I realized I have the power to shape my own destiny, RIGHT NOW.  I decided then, after always saying “I want to be one of those ladies who always keeps fresh flowers in the house,” that I would buy myself a small bouquet.  Carrying it home felt like such a victory.  I stopped to sniff my triumph on each street corner.  It was a totally selfish act that simply made me happy.  I recommend everyone try it.

Eating:  Kale and tofu salads with hummus dressing.  I’m going to try new dressings over the summer, as I may have fallen into a bit of a salad dressing rut.  Also, this waffle with Chunky Monkey ice cream covered in whipped cream:

Looking forward to:  Oh man, are you ready for this list?

Friday – the outline for my next tattoo will be done, followed by a ghost tour

Saturday – ghost tour in my new favourite neighborhood, Lower Manhattan!

July 6th – 2nd (and hopefully final) appointment for my tattoo

approx. July 19-July 24 – my yearly Buffalo vacation

July 29-August 5 – my oldest friend and “big brother” comes to visit me
for the 2nd time in 15 years of friendship!

And let’s not forget…

July 31 – I turn 29 years young!

Making me happy:  Walking home from work before the sun sets.  This sometimes means “limping four miles up Broadway in the rain,” because I am stubborn and refuse to let a little thing like soaking shoes or blisters deter me from visiting my “happy place any and every time I get the chance.

  1. Those flowers are so pretty! And I'm excited to see your new tattoo. I want to get my tattoo done so badly, but I have to save my money first.
